Thought I would share a card I made using one of my newest digi images Soccer Oliver. This is one of four images released this week over on my digi blog. This image may be purchased over on my website or I have a special on at the moment on the blog.

Christmas Cards All Year Round January Challenge

Hello all and Happy New Year to you.

It's time for the first challenge of 2012 over at Christmas Cards All Year Round. This month the challenge is to make a Christmas card using non traditional colours, either on their own or combined with traditional colours.

As an optional extra you can include some type of embossing.

Here is my card:

I've used a stamp from the JustRite set-Merry & Bright. I've stamped and embossed the image using black ink and clear embossing powder. I've also used my Spellbinder Snowflake Impressabilities to emboss the black cardstock.

I've added a black organza bow and a large clear diamante to finish the card.

For my card I've used mainly Spellbinders and also a small snowflake punch. I've added diamantes to the small snowflakes and one to the larger snowflake.

Beyond The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge 3

It's time again for another challenge over at Beyond The Burtonesque Dolls. This week we are being challenged to create a project inspired by the works of Guillermo del Toro.

I must admit when I saw this week's challenge I was a bit aprehensive. Once I did a bit of a search I found that I had in fact seen a number of his movies.

My project this week is a tag inspired not by one of the movies I was familiar with, but a movie I have never seen, or until this week even heard of. My inspiration comes from the movie poster of Cronos.

Here is my tag:

The stamps are from a clear set I bought in Canada last year, so not sure who made them. The bug is made from a button that has been painted black and then rubbed with Pearl-ex.

Here is my card for today's tutorial over at DownUnder Direct. I've created a card using a technique that has been around for some time. I've been using this one for years with rubber stamps. I think that it is always good to bring back old techniques as they can sometimes be pushed aside and forgotten.

Today rather than using rubber stamps I have used Impressabilities to create a textured background.

It's time again for another challenge over at Beyond The Burtonesque Dolls. This week we've picked one awesomely talented man to focus on:

Terry Gilliam

Terry Gilliam, is a wonderful Artist/Animator, Actor, and Director. I'm sure many of you will know him from the Monty Python team, but since then he's directed some of the most fantastical fantasy films ever made.

The Challenge is to Create a Card/Project based on any of Terry Gilliam's Work.

For my card this week I chose to create a card based on the Movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. I absolutely love this movie.

Here is my card.

The main image is from Simply Betty Stamps.

For the frame of the mirror I've used a Spellbinder die and then added dots of black dimensional paint all around it.

The backing pattern is a clear sticker I've had for ages.

The mask stamp is from Stamp It Australia

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends.

This is my centrepiece that I bought many years ago on a trip "home" to visit my family in Canada. I don't use it every year but as we are still in the middle of painting the house, it was a quick and easy touch for our Thanksgiving table.

'Halloween' we want you to create a card/project inspired by your favourite Halloween film, book or memory

My card is inspired by my favourite memory.

We don't really celebrate Halloween here in Australia, so in 2009 my daughter and I attended the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in Disneyland. We had also attended the party the year before, but in 2009 we decided to dress for the occassion. My daughter dressed as snow white and I decided I was going as Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas.

Well lets just say I don't really have the figure to pull that one off, but I wore the costume and we had a blast.

The Sally image was one provided by Betty from Simply Betty Stamps as a follower freebie last year.

The printed paper is from the new Halloween range of printed papers from Bazzill.

The flowers are from my stash and the leaves are cut using the Spellbinder die - Foliage.

Christmas Cards All Year Round October Challenge

It's once again time for another challenge over at Christmas Cards All Year Round. I can't believe how fast this year is going.

Seeing it is coming up to Halloween, the challenge this month is to use a Halloween colour for your card. I decided to keep it pretty simple and used black as my Halloween colour. The other part of the challenge is to use a die cut on your card. I've used one of the newest released Spellbinder dies-Picot Edge Circles. The stamp is from Stamp It. The ribbon and snowflake button are from my stash. It's a bit hard to see but I've added some tiny Swarovski crystals to the tiny snowflakes on the stamp.

Christmas Cards All Year Round September Challenge

It's challenge time once again over at Christmas Cards All Year Round. This month the challenge is to use only items that are at least a year old to make your cards.

So for my cards I decided to remake a set I made a couple of years ago. I designed these for Australian Cardmaking Stamping and Papercraft and they have always been some of my favorite Christmas designs.

All the stamps I've used are from Sunshine Designs. The papers are from my scrap box and the embellishments I've had for ages. I even pulled out the Tombows to colour the images. I haven't used these in ages.

Good morning everyone. It's been quite a while since my last post, but it's been a pretty hectic month for me. First I had my daughter's 16th birthday to organise, then as soon as that was over we started to paint our house. I've had to completely move out of my craft room, so until the painting is finished I'm working at the dining room table. Not the best creative environment, but we will see how we go.

Anyway I did manage to get a tutorial done for DownUnder Direct this week. The tutorial is on how to make a three panel card (in one continuous piece) using a spellbinder die.

Christmas Roses

I don't have a card to share with you today, but I do have a picture of some "Christmas Roses" I made this afternoon, as part of a Christmas page I'm working on.

Some time ago I bought some rather expensive floral embellishments. I haven't used them as yet, but really like them. I decided to try to recreate them out of paper today, and I was quite happy with the results. I've used my Rose Creations Spellbinder die. For each flower I've used two petals the same size and one slightly smaller. I've wet, crumpled and dried them. I've added some flower stamens and a little crystal glitter.

I'll be back sometime down the track with the page I'm working on.

Christmas Cards All Year Round-July Challenge

This is my second post this morning. Please scroll down for details of my first Christmas card challenge.

It's once again time for another challenge over at Christmas Cards All Year Round. This month we'd like to see white as a main "colour" and then we'll need some bling - gems, plearls, glitter, etc. Added challenge for fun - Flower(s) of some kind too!!!

For my card I've used shades of white with different textures. I've stamped and embossed my image with gold. The bling on my card is a little hard to see in the photo, but I've added some shimmery fibres behind the wording. There is glitter on my white flower, and sparkly bits through the mulberry paper that I've used behind my image. There is also a tiny pearl in the centre of my flower. The image and wording are from JustRite.

After 2 1/2 years of blogging I thought it time to run a challenge... so welcome to the first challenge here at My Creative Place. To start off I thought I would run a month long challenge. This gives everyone heaps of time to participate.

With Christmas less than six months away the theme of this first challenge is "Christmas In July- Anything Goes."

It's preview time again over at Simply Betty Stamps. This week the girls from SBS are previewing Jude and The Rockers. I've decided to join in on the fun and make a couple of cards as well. Today I have Jude to introduce.

I've coloured the image using Copics and given his jeans a bit of a textured look using some denim material soaked with Copic Blender fluid. The star has been cut using SCAL and my Cricut. The wording stamp I've had for ages and never used. Not sure who made it as it's a clear set. The papers and bits and pieces are from my stash.

It's the second last preview day of the Burton-Weenies, and today we have Harley to introduce.

I was a bit disappointed with the photo. Her hair is actually yellow with green streaks but it's really difficult to see this.

All the bits and pieces are from my stash. The paper is something I bought last year but there is no label on it, so I'm guessing it came from a paper stack.

Ok time for another Christmas card. I made this one this morning. I cleaned my craft room over the weekend so I now have a lovely tidy area to be creative. This is my first creation in my "tidy room"

I found some paper I hadn't seen in awhile so used that for the snowflake. The gold background paper has been embossed using Spellbinders Impressabilities-Snowflake. The lace and button are from my stash.

I thought I would enter this in Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge as the challenge this week was to include a button(s) on your project.

Burtonesque Dolls Burton-Weenies Sneak Peek

This week The Burtonesque Dolls are helping to release another new range of images from Simply Betty Stamps. The new range is called The Burton-Weenies. We will be releasing a new image every day for six days. Today we have Jack Jack.

Most of what I used for this card came from my scrap box. The ball chain, trim and brads I've had in my stash for ages. The metal embellishment is from a set of poetry dog tags I bought about 8 years ago, on one of my trips to The US. They came in a little metal box with about 100 different words.

I've coloured the image with Copics. I've used a small piece of heavy denim material saturated with Copic Blender Fluid (0) to give the jeans a textured look.

Here is my first "winter" Christmas card. I always feel so much more inspired to make Christmas cards during winter, so hopefully this will be the first of many to come over the next few months.

Burtonesque Dolls Challenge

It's once again challenge time over at The Burtonesque Dolls. This week, Monsters have taken over the Chocolate Factory! Today we challenge you to take your inspiration from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, but Moster-ize it! Maybe a new chocolate can be made? Or use colors inspired by the movie and apply it to a Gruesome image making it fun, funky and all Burton! Our sponsor this week is Strange Skin Digis.

For my card today I have used The Mummy from The Famous Monster Collection. This was a super quick card as there really wasn't much colouring involved. I've incorporated some fun and funky colours into the card and added some gauze.

It's a Pirate Party!

Well it's not long now until the release of the fourth Pirates of The Carribean movie, this Thursday to be exact. Not that I'm counting down the days or anything like that.... I rarely go to the theatre, but this is one of those movies that I just have to see on the big screen.

So on to the point of this post. We're having a Pirate party over at The Burtonesque Dolls this week. Each day for six days we will be helping release the new Funky Pirate line from Simply Betty Stamps.

Now I know that Tim Burton had nothing to do with Pirates, but his wing man Johnny is in it so we figured that was Burton-esque enough to have a Pirate Stamping Release here! SO... that is what today's post is all about... welcome to our Pirates Sneak Peeks! We will be having five days of previews, the sixth being a preview/release for these fun Pirate images! So let's begin with:

Bonnie! She is keeping a eye out for treasure... or maybe her long lost love, what ever she's searching for she sure is stylin' isn't she? These cuties will be available in Clear Stamp.

I wanted some pirate themed paper to go with this image, and since I didn't have any in my stash, I made this set of digi papers. You can download them for free by clicking here. I've printed them out onto white Bazzill so they have a lovely texture. The font I've used is Pieces of Eight which I downloaded from a font site.

New Rag Dolls

It's another new release over at The Burtonesque Dolls. Today we have two new cuties to show ya.. They are Lena and Misty! Both will be accompanied next week on Tuesday by two more cute Rag Dolls! They will also be available next week for purchase @ simplybettystamps.com.
The challenge this week is to create a quilted background using different pieces of paper and sewing them together to create that background! Not as hard as it sounds I promise! It's fun, and just think of the cool "rags" you can patch together! You may use any image you like! Have fun and be sure to check back next week for another two cute Rag Doll images.

For my card this week I've used Lena. I've printed her onto Express It blender card and coloured with Copics. All the papers are from my stash. I've cut each into a square and then stitched them together. I've also stitched the layered image onto the background. The flowers are from Prima. I've used some regualr buttons and some doll buttons to embellish.

Just a quick post today to share this card I just made. I was asked to make some cupcake cards and this is one of the designs I came up with.

The stamp is one I've had for a few years. It's from a clear cling set, which I believe is from Hero Arts. The image has been stamped and embossed and then coloured with Tombows.

Christmas Card Challenge

Cheryl over at My Cardmaking Haven is currently having a Christmas card challenge. The challenge which is open to her followers is to make five Christmas cards. I promised myself that I would make at least five cards every month so that by Dec 1st this year I would be ready to post my cards. Well so far, not so good. I think my total for this year is five or six. That is until today when I decided to join in on Cheryl's challenge.

I decided to keep my design simple, and used the new Fancy Tags Two Spellbinder Die. I've stamped and embossed the wording from JustRite Stamps and then layered this onto the tag. I've added a couple of pearls to finish it. Pretty simple but I think it looks quite nice.

New Digi Release

Finally I'm back after not posting anything for about a week. I was asked to make a scrapbook as a going away gift. I received the photos last Saturday and set about the task to make a 20 page album by Wednesday night. I managed to finish just in time. I was pleased with the results, but didn't have time to take any photos to share with you.

Here is a card I just made. The image is Amber, a new Platypus Creek Digi designed by my daughter Hannah.

The image was printed onto X Press It blender card and coloured with Copics. I've embossed the cardstock using Daisy Impressabilities from Spellbinder. The flowers and pearls are from my stash.
